Williamstown High School archers Tanner Collins and Shaye Partin competed in the KHSAA State Tournament held in Lexington on Tuesday, April 16.
Collins achieved a ranking of 73 out of 229 participants, scoring 280 points with an impressive tally of 15 tens.
Reflecting on his approach to the tournament, Collins emphasized the importance of staying relaxed and enjoying the experience.
“I didn’t put pressure on myself because I just let myself relax. I just shot just for fun and I didn’t really care about a score or anything,” said Collins.
He also offered valuable advice to aspiring archers, urging them not to be deterred by individual setbacks.
“Don’t let one bad arrow ruin your tournament; you can always come back from it,” Collins advised.
Partin secured the 18 position out of 24 competitors, achieving a score of 271 with 11 tens. Both athletes demonstrated commendable skill and dedication at the tournament, representing Williamstown High School with pride.
